Apple to Unveil iPhone 6 in August, Earlier than Expected!

BANGALORE: Apple is planning to unveil iPhone 6 in August, one month earlier than industry watchers were generally expecting, reports Reuters.

The Economic Daily reported that Apple will launch its long awaited iPhone 6 with a 4.7 inch display screen in August and a 5.5 or 5.6 inch version of the model in September.  The report also said that Apple will produce 80 million iPhone 6 handsets this year. In addition, rumor surrounds that the phone will have round sides, elongated volume buttons, and a relocated sleep/ wake button.

Industry watchers said that by increasing the screen size of iPhone 6, Apple could regain its market share because some of its competitors like Samsung have responded to consumer desire for bigger screen size. Apple representatives could not be reached for a comment.

Representatives for Taiwanese iPhone contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd and smartphone camera lens maker Largan2 Precision Co Ltd, both mentioned in the Economic Daily News report, had no comment.
