Apple And Samsung Lock Horns Over The Pricing In India

Bangalore: Apple and Samsung are locked in a price war in India, each is coming up with attractive discounts on its Smartphones in a bid to pull customers in one of the world’s  largest developing mobile markets, reports Apple Insider.

Apple, in a move to increase its footprint in Indian market, early in April announced to give a discount to any customers trading in an older Smartphone for Apple's iPhone 4. The customers pocketed cash discount of about 7,000, according to Wall Street Journal.

Samsung retorted Apple’s move with its own exciting offer of 15 percent cash back for consumers buying a Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Grand, or Galaxy tablet. The offer ran in conjunction with Samsung’s prior offer that allowed customers the devices on a 12-month, interest-free installment plan.

Apple, in light of company’s recent success where it became the second highest revenue grosser in Indian mobile market with its 15.6 percent share, has embarked on to triple its presence in the subcontinent with more than 200 locations by 2015.
