Frances Flood, ClearOne Communications
The principle behind ClearOne Communications to become one among Forbes top 100 publicly traded small companies was simple- channel stuffing: a process of inflating its sales figures by forcing more products through a distribution channel than what the company is capable of selling. What Flood did was the same. She shipped products to the retailers on agreement that they don’t have to pay until it is sold, but still booked them as sales. This helped the company to meet the revenue targets. Fraces was found guilty for fraud and maintaining false books. In 2009, she was sentenced to four years of imprisonment.
