3 Signs You Are An Online Stalker

Bangalore: Whether you agree it or not, there is a hidden ‘stalker’ lies inside almost all the online commuters, who simply stalk on people around them, in an attempt to know everything. It partially comes out of the belief that victims cannot trace back who stalks them.  But according to Seth Meyers, a top psychologist and addiction expert, there will be a stage, when a stalker gets addicted to his behavior and will need professional help for recovery. If you want to know what defines an “online stalker”, here are the three main characteristics that define them.

According to Meyers, it's a lot different from occasionally checking the Facebook page of an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend, to obsessively tracking someone on the web. So if you want to check yourself, here are the traits of a stalker as Meyer said in an interview with ABC News.

Trait No 1: “Spending a lot of time trying to get as much information as possible about the person,” say Meyers. If you are a person who miss deadlines or canceling social plans just because of this long Web-surfing sessions and-or constant monitoring of the person’s social media posts, you are indeed a professional stalker.

Trait No 2: The second trait according to Meyers is, “Your stalking behavior is done in secret.” This means prowling on sites, leaving no trace you were there, like a comment on a post, for example.

Trait No 3: The last and final trait that defines a stalker is, “Using multiple social media sites to get as much information as they can,” said Meyers. “It is characterized as a ‘hunt’ compelled by a deep-seated insecurity.” According to Meyers, “the root of it is about feeling that this other person has something that you don’t. You’d feel more complete if you have what they have.”
