Sasser: This is a worm that attacks vulnerable PCs that run using Microsoft operating systems Windows XP and Windows 2000. This worm spreads on its own and be stopped easier by a firewall or updating the systems from Windows Updates.

This worm caused a lot of panic and attacked systems across the world from financial firms, airline services, and even military networks. This worm was thought to be a Russian developed virus but it was actually created by an 18 year old German boy. 

Stuxnet: This computer worm was designed to attack a particular mainframe like industrial Programmable Logic Controllers or PLCs. This worm attacks industries using Windows OS and networks then it targets Siemens step7 software.

The known attack of this worm was seen in Iran when it attacks the systems PLCs, collecting information on the industry and also left the fast spinning centrifuges to tear apart. Stuxnet reported destroyed one fifth of Iran’s nuclear centrifuges. This worm does a little harm to the computer, but it is designed to carry out an attack at specific targets.

Zeus botnet: This is also known as Zbot, which attacks systems running on Microsoft Windows Operating System. This is a Trojan horse virus that can be used for criminal and malicious attacks but it was most used to steal information from banks or government organization.
