#7 Langeled Pipeline

Langeled Pipeline, originally known as Britpipe is the longest underwater pipeline measuring 746 miles from Norway to U.K. Before the completion of Nord Stream pipeline, it was the longest subsea pipeline in the world. It was constructed for Norwegian Hydro to carry 70 million cubic yards of gas to heat homes in the United Kingdom.

Lead by Ormen Lange, the project was completed in 2006 and a total of 3000 workers were involved in the construction of this pipeline under the sea using special equipments.

The Three Gorges Dam is a hydroelectric dam located in china, which was built to increase the Yangtze River's shipping capacity and reduce the potential for floods downstream by providing flood storage space. This particular dam is known to be the world’s largest power station in terms of installed capacity.

The construction of the Three Gorges Dam began in 1994 and was opened for commercial operation in 2008. It has proved to be the expensive and controversial due to the re-housing of 1.4 million people and flooding of more than 1000 towns and villages. The reservoir area has been plagued by pollution, buildup and landslides.
