Zomato's Business Finance Head Resigns from the Company

Hemal Jain, Zomato's Global Head of Finance and CFO of Hyperpure, has resigned, making her the second senior executive to step down from the foodtech company in Q4 2024.

In a stock exchange filing on Monday, Zomato stated that Jain's last working day will be January 31, 2025, as she plans to pursue other opportunities.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Jain oversaw business finance, FP&A, central procurement, and finance operations for Zomato and Blinkit. She has been with the company for over six years under the leadership of Deepinder Goyal.

While the specific reason for her resignation has not been disclosed, it comes shortly after Zomato received a GST demand notice of Rs 803 crore (about $100 million).

In September, Zomato’s co-founder and Chief People Officer, Akriti Chopra, resigned after serving the company for 13 years.

For Q2 FY25, Zomato reported a 68.5% year-on-year increase in operating revenue, reaching Rs 4,799 crore compared to Rs 2,848 crore in Q2 FY24. Hyperpure’s revenue grew significantly by 97% to Rs 1,473 crore, while Zomato saw a 4.8X surge in net profit, reaching Rs 176 crore.

Additionally, Zomato recently raised Rs 8,500 crore through a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) of equity shares.

In her resignation letter, Jain wrote, "I have had the privilege of being part of the Zomato journey and its dynamic team over the past six years. However, after much reflection, I have taken this tough decision to move on and explore a different path."
