- Startups gain access to cutting edge tools, mentorship, and global exposure
- Program focuses on early stage ideas in animation, gaming, and immersive tech
WaveX, the startup accelerator under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting’s WAVES initiative, has launched seven new incubation centers across India to support early stage startups in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics (AVGC) and Extended Reality (XR).
These centers are located at top media institutions including IIMC campuses in Delhi, Jammu, Dhenkanal, Kottayam, and Amravati, FTII Pune, and SRFTI Kolkata. They join the main hub at IICT Mumbai, known for its state-of-the-art creative tech infrastructure.
Each center will support 15 startups, providing them with advanced tools, co-working spaces, and access to high end production gear such as 8K Red Raptor cameras, Dolby Atmos enabled theatres, virtual production setups, photogrammetry systems, VR kits, and high-performance edit suites.
Startups will receive structured support including mentorship, investor connections, policy guidance, and cloud credits. They will also have the opportunity to attend global events like VivaTech in Paris and GDC in the US, offering international exposure.
WaveX is collaborating with IITs, T-Hub, and other innovation hubs to connect startups with broader ecosystems. Selected teams may also get a chance to work with government media outlets like Doordarshan, All India Radio, and PIB.

The incubation model is divided into two phases, an active phase focusing on business and product development, followed by a passive phase that supports global showcasing and continued mentorship.
Designed to nurture high potential creative ideas, WaveX aims to turn early stage concepts into viable ventures and position India as a global leader in AVGC-XR innovation.
