Urban Company has ventured into the quick commerce space with the introduction of Insta Maids, a 15-minute maid booking platform. The service, live on the Urban Company app for a month now, is now operational in certain areas of Mumbai, with the company assessing traction before a wider roll-out.
The service includes daily chores such as utensil wash, sweeping, mopping, and meal preparation for Rs 49 an hour. The advert for the service says, "Your maid left you hanging? We leave your home spotless!" Insta Maids are being promoted by the company using influencer-based campaigns on Instagram and Facebook.
Urban Company's entry follows a growing quick commerce war in India, with startups as well as incumbents competing aggressively to tap into consumers' demand for instant services. Mumbai-based Snabbit is another startup that provides the same on-demand house help services and raised $5.5 million in Series A from Elevation Capital and Nexus Venture Partners recently.
Quick commerce is changing fast from just groceries and essentials to electronics, gold, and even fashion and beauty. Players such as Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and Blinkit's Bistro are changing the expectations of customers, while Myntra's M-Now offers fashion delivery within 30 minutes.
The growth of super-fast services captures the changing urban lifestyles with convenience at the top of the agenda. As companies such as Urban Company and Snabbit vie for market space, consumers have the potential to gain from a widening array of instant, convenient solutions for their every need.
