Unacademy promotes Abhishek Pipara as CFO to look after Offline Centers

Bengaluru based edtech unicorn Unacademy has appointed Abhishek Pipara for the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its offline centres business. As per the statement of CEO Gaurav Munjal, Abhishek Pipara has been working with the company from the past six years.

Pipara will succeed Pratik Dalal, who joined the company from Kunal Shah-led CRED in January this year. This strategic appointment marks the company’s strategic shift as the company looks to enhance the performance of its physical learning centres.

In his new role, Pipara will concentrate on enhancing financial efficiency, improving unit economics, and ensuring profitability at the Centre level. His leadership is anticipated to enable Unacademy Centres to scale operations more effectively.

Additionally, Pipara's efforts will be crucial in maintaining profitability and financial discipline as Unacademy expands its hybrid learning model in the post-pandemic landscape.

Pipara, a Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary, brings over 16 years of extensive experience in finance and strategy. Prior to joining Unacademy, he held key positions at several startups and firms, including Little App, Zovi, and Deloitte.

At Unacademy, he previously served as Vice President of Finance, where he contributed to the company's financial stability and helped streamline operations. His robust background is considered vital for ensuring that Unacademy’s offline centers, which focus on competitive exam preparations such as IIT JEE, NEET, UPSC, and CAT, achieve their financial and operational objectives.

The offline centers of Unacademy is targeting the company’s strategical move towards strengthening the online and offline education. These centres providestudents personalized coaching, structured courses, and access to dedicated mentors, providing a blended learning experience.

As the edtech sector encounters growing competition and the need to control costs, this offline initiative is viewed as essential for Unacademy’s growth. The company operates centers in nearly 40 cities and boasts a network of over 91,000 educators and 99 million registered learners.
