Uber's Exciting new Features! Helmet Selfie, Women Rider Preference option & more

To make its platform safer, more convenient, and more equitable for more than a million drivers in India, Uber has added a number of new features. The changes, which are intended to increase the rewards of driving for Uber, assist government social security programs, and demonstrate Uber's dedication to giving its drivers a safer, more transparent experience.

The most recent changes made by Uber are in line with the government's Code on Social Security (CoSS), which attempts to provide benefits to unorganized and gig workers. Uber is providing financial incentives to the first 10,000 drivers who sign up on this one database in an effort to encourage e-Shram registration and improve drivers' access to social security benefits.

With new features like Helmet Selfie, which requires two-wheeler drivers to confirm they are wearing helmets before beginning trips, Uber is putting safety first. Early in the upcoming year, the feature—which aims to increase traffic safety—is anticipated to be implemented nationwide. In a similar vein, female drivers can accept only female riders by selecting the Women Rider Preference option, which gives them greater flexibility and a sense of security. This functionality has already been used for more than 21,000 journeys. An additional safety feature is the ability to record audio while driving, which enables drivers to do so if they feel unsafe. Uber can only view the encrypted recordings if they are included in a safety report, protecting privacy.

Additionally, the additional features make driving more convenient and profitable. Riders can now tip before their trip starts because to a new Upfront Tipping feature, which promotes faster ride acceptance and increases drivers' profits. Uber's payment technology has also been enhanced, enabling drivers to cash out their earnings instantaneously up to four times each day, providing them with real-time access to their earnings. Under Uber's mentorship program, new drivers are also linked with seasoned mentors who guide them through the platform in exchange for payment.

Expressing to these exciting new features, Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India & South Asia, says, “We take pride in being the platform of choice for over a million drivers in India. Our north star is to be the best platform in the world for flexible work, and raise the bar further on the Uber experience. The updates announced today empower drivers, enhance their safety, and offer greater convenience with more transparency in their everyday operations," he said.
