Tripura CM Manik Saha unveils 'Tripura Startup Policy 2024' in Agartala

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha launched the ‘Tripura Startup Policy-2024’ at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala on Friday. The policy is designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the state, with specific support for young entrepreneurs.

“This policy will ensure that the youth of the state receive the necessary government support to achieve their entrepreneurial goals,” said Saha. The policy includes financial assistance to help budding entrepreneurs and innovators.

The earlier Tripura IT/ITES Startup Policy of 2019 focused on IT-based startups and led to the registration of 26 startups, which collectively received over 1 crore in incentives and created around 130 jobs.

The new policy expands its focus to support both IT and non-IT startups. According to Information and Technology Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, 127 startups from Tripura are registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Of these, 26 are part of the IT/ITES scheme, while the new policy aims to cater to the remaining 101 and encourage new startups.

Startups will receive operational expense support of 20,000 per month, with additional incentives of 10% for women-led ventures and 20% for startups led by specially-abled individuals. Financial aid will also be provided for purchasing raw materials, equipment, patents, and marketing.

The policy emphasizes support for startups in sectors like handlooms, handicrafts, horticulture, agro-processing, and healthcare, aiming to drive economic growth and job creation across various industries in the state.
