Ixigo, a travel booking platform, is prepared to purchase the majority of Zoop Web Services Private Limited. On October 24, 2024, the Ixigo board of directors met and authorized the acquisition. In the agreement, Ixigo will pay Rs 12.54 crore, including a non-compete fee, to acquire a 51 percent share in Zoop.

The final agreements that both businesses have signed specify the requirements that must be met for this transaction to proceed.

The acquisition will be carried out by purchasing both main and secondary shares. Zoop is well-known for offering e-catering and other railway ecosystem solutions. Ixigo hopes to give its users a more complete travel experience by incorporating Zoop's products into its platform. Given that the train vertical accounted for 53% of Ixigo's revenue in Q2 FY25, this acquisition makes sense.

Zoop provides PNR status checks, meal reservations, and other railway-related services. It has operations in 18 states and serves 192 train stations. Nearly 400 restaurants are currently partners of the organization.

Apart from obtaining the majority stake, Ixigo has also obtained the option to buy the remaining 49% of Zoop at a later date.

This is Ixigo's third significant acquisition. In August 2021, it acquired the bus aggregation platform AbhiBus, and in February 2021, it purchased a 100% share in the train ticket app Confirmtkt.

In comparison to the same period in FY24, Ixigo's operating revenue increased by 26% to Rs 206.47 crore in Q2 FY25. However, from Rs 26.70 crore in Q2 FY24 to Rs 13.08 crore in Q2 FY25, the company's profit after tax (PAT) saw a notable 51% reduction.
