Swiggy Instamart soon-to-be stand as sole App - Expanding footprints over 75 Cities

Swiggy, India’s leading on-demand convenience platform, has announced that Swiggy Instamart, its quick commerce service, now covers 76 cities across the country and will soon launch as a standalone mobile app.

Currently integrated into Swiggy’s main platform, which also includes food delivery and dining-out services, Instamart offers deliveries within 10 minutes and features nearly 50,000 products.

Founded in 2014, Swiggy has previously experimented with standalone services. While it successfully merged offerings like Dineout into its main app after acquisition, these services still maintain their own apps for users who prefer dedicated platforms.

Swiggy's Managing Director and Group CEO, Sriharsha Majety, stated that Instamart’s rapid growth indicates its potential to rival, and even surpass, Swiggy’s food delivery business in scale. He also mentioned that Instamart’s strong reception in new cities and product categories suggests it could eventually surpass 100 million users.

While Instamart will remain part of the Swiggy app, benefiting from integration with other services, the standalone app will serve as an additional, more accessible channel for users.

Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha explained that the new app will offer a seamless experience, especially for customers ordering everyday essentials. He also confirmed that subscribers to Swiggy One, One Lite, and One BLCK will continue to enjoy the same benefits on both the existing Instamart platform within the Swiggy app and the new standalone app.

Swiggy has also introduced services like Swiggy Daily and InsanelyGood as separate apps and plans to launch more new offerings this year, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and its leadership in the on-demand convenience space.
