Successful Entrepreneurs Who Started Late
Barbera Miller
A lady who proved that age is no bar in becoming a self-dependent and independent entrepreneur. Barbera started a paper distribution company and turned it into a multi-million dollar business over a short span of time. All these after reaching the age of 60, when people think of retiring and playing with their grand children. She had spent over three decades as an employee in a paper industry working or various corporations.
With a seed investment of just $300,000, the company was able to generate sales of $3 million in the first year itself. However, the journey was not easy for her. Just after 5 months of starting the business, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Luckily, the cancer was caught at an early stage. She also had a bone marrow transplant in 1997.
