Former cricketer Sourav Ganguly received an undisclosed investment to get a minority stake in the food delivery startup JustMyRoots. Ganguly will also be endorsing the business, marking his entry into the startup ecosystem. JustMyRoots operates an intercity food delivery service and is currently in talks with venture capital and private equity funds to secure funding of Rs 120 to Rs 150 crore for expanding its business operations. CEO Samiran Sengupta revealed that the funds will be utilized for establishing in-house manufacturing units for their innovative packaging solutions and launching food delivery services within cities, similar to popular platforms like Swiggy and Zomato.

Expressing his rationale for investing in JustMyRoots, Ganguly emphasized the growing trend of people preferring to order food and dine at home. He cited this as the future of the food industry. Ganguly further revealed that he has been actively investing in startups and currently holds strategic stakes in four companies, with one recent investment proving to be profitable for him. With Ganguly’s investment, JustMyRoots has now raised a total of Rs 31 crore from high net-worth individuals and family businesses worldwide, including prominent CEOs from leading tech companies. The company reported revenue of Rs 208 crore for the 2022-2023 fiscal year and aims to increase it to Rs 350 crore in the current financial year, according to CEO Samiran Sengupta.

Sengupta expressed the company’s ambition to expand its services to include same-city food delivery, even to locations 40-50 km away, while ensuring the food remains hot through their proprietary technology. This expansion is set to begin in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru by Diwali. The involvement of Sourav Ganguly, a respected figure in Indian cricket, is expected to bring significant visibility and credibility to JustMyRoots. The company is poised for growth and aims to disrupt the food delivery space with its unique offerings and technology-driven solutions.
