Oravel, an Online Short Stay Accomodator Raises Seed Funding


Bangalore: Oravel, a Delhi based online short stay accommodation bread and breakfast site, has raised seed funding from VentureNursery’s Angels - Shravan Shroff, founder of Fame Cinemas, and Ravi Kiran, former CEO – South East & South Asia – Starcom MediaVest Group and angels Anand Ladsariya, managing director of Everest Flavours, Amit Patni, co-founder and chairman of Nirvana Venture Advisors and Bharat Banka, CEO of Aditya Birla Private Equity invested in the firm, reports medianama.com.

Established in February 2012 by Ritesh Agarwal, it provides short and midterm rental spaces and runs on the Airbnb.com model. The website lets users list their properties, apartments and villas which would be used by travelers to stay, by booking the place through the website. The website currently focuses in three regions – New Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon.

The funding also adds Manish Sinha from Cinnamon Stays as the co-founder and the COO of the company. Oravel joined VentureNursery’s acceleration program in July 2012 and has informed that the procured funds will be utilized for marketing purposes.

The founders’ age was not a matter of concern, says Shravan Shroff who also added "This space is poised for growth in the country. As larger numbers of people begin to travel, demand for cost-effective accommodation will increase."
