OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Hails Indian Startup Cradlewise, Buys $1,999 Smart Crib
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently praised an Indian startup that deals in baby products by buying a smart crib worth $1,999 from Cradlewise. He took to X to praise the innovative product designed by Bengaluru entrepreneur Radhika Patil. In his blog post, Altman wrote that among the few infant products he and his wife considered worthwhile were the Cradlewise crib, writing, "We purchased a whole lot of foolish baby stuff that we haven't needed," recommending the crib while also advising parents to buy a lot of burp rags.
Radhika Patil, who co-founded Cradlewise with her husband Bharath Patil, welcomed Altman's shoutout, thanking him for his endorsement and sending wishes for restful nights to him and his partner.
Based in the United States and India since its inception in 2016, Cradlewise works on tech-enabled solutions for improving sleep for infants and parents. The pair first created the smart crib in Bengaluru before moving to the US in the pandemic to set it up there with their two kids. The crib, costing approximately $1,999 in the US and $1.5 lakh in India, comes with a built-in monitor, calming music, and a soft bounce that it is programmed to produce as soon as the baby moves, soothing it before crying. Moreover, the crib adjusts with the growing baby, evolving from a bassinet to a toddler crib for kids up to two years old.
