Online Fresh Meat Retailer 'Zappfresh' buys Mumbai-based 'Bonsaro'
Zappfresh, a Mumbai-based company that specializes in the online delivery of seafood, goat, and poultry, has acquired Bonsaro. The company with its headquarters in Gurugram has made two acquisitions. It had purchased Dr.Meat owned by Sukos Foods, in July 2023.
Zappfresh has expanded its presence in the western region by acquiring Bonsaro and taking over the entire business and operations of the company, including all assets. It will increase its operational capabilities and brand presence in the western region.
Bonsaro, founded by Sachin Shetty and Vinay D'silva, delivers seafood, red meat, and other poultry in a variety of cuts and forms, making it easier for customers with non-vegetarian food requirements to order from the company.
Zappfresh intends to invest in Bonsaro's existing operations and build on them over the next six months, focusing on improving the customer experience and expanding product options. In addition, the company intends to enter new markets within the region within the next year, including Navi Mumbai, Pune, and other satellite towns.
Zappfresh has not yet submitted its financial results for FY24, but its operating revenue was the same, 56 crore, for the March 2023 fiscal year. During the same timeline, the company earned 11 crore in profits.
Entrackr's sources say that Zappfresh will probably go public in the last part of the current fiscal year (FY25). In the month of May of this year, it became a public company as well.
Expressing to this, Deepanshu Manchanda, Founder, Zappfresh, “By integrating Bonsaro into our portfolio, we are poised to build a pan-India brand that operates in key markets. Mumbai, being a critical market, will contribute significantly to our footprint in the west”.
Further he added, "Our expansion strategy remains disciplined—we expand one city at a time, ensuring profitability without compromising our bottom line. We only venture into new markets once we achieve break-even”.
