ONDC Brings Sunil J. Singhi Onboard as Independent Director

The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has added Sunil J. Singhi to its Board as an Independent Director, a strategic addition aimed at furthering its mission towards inclusive and equitable digital commerce in India.

With decades of experience in policy-making, business governance, and community empowerment, Singhi’s induction is expected to bolster ONDC’s mission of creating an open, accessible digital marketplace for all especially small traders and underserved regions.

Now the Chairman of the National Traders' Welfare Board, Singhi has spearheaded a number of influential efforts in the area of providing support for India's trading and informal sector workers. His previous roles have included Vice Chairman of the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation and Chairman of the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, where he facilitated access to welfare for more than 50,000 enterprises and industrial units.

He was an Independent Director at FCI Aravali Gypsum and Minerals India Ltd, and held the position of the first Jain representative on the National Commission for Minorities, Government of India.

A long-time champion of small shopkeepers, distributors, and informal sector workers, Singhi has been leading initiatives in areas of education, skill development, livelihood, and social welfare most notably in under-served geographies. His nomination is viewed as a move to ensure that ONDC continues to be rooted in the ground realities of India's grassroots trade ecosystem.
