Omnia Buys SpotKwik to Fuel XR Innovation for Businesses & Brands
US-headquartered extended reality (XR) firm Omnia has acquired Silicon Valley-funded augmented reality (AR) startup SpotKwik to boost innovation and diversify its product lines. Omnia, which specializes in linking AR creators to businesses and brands, will use SpotKwik's research and development expertise to scale its platform, the firm said in a statement.
Mithun, the Co-Founder and CEO of SpotKwik, said, “We aim to build for the platforms of tomorrow: headsets like Apple Vision Pro, freeing apps from the boundaries of a display and enabling them to appear as if seen through our real eyes. Omnia, with its XR distribution expertise and notable clients such as Tesla, AOI, and GM, is the perfect partner to help us build the future. Together, we are saying goodbye to mobile computing and hello to spatial computing”.
In 2020, SpotKwik raised funds from Silicon Valley's MARL 5G Accelerator. A joint statement by both founders states that SpotKwik’s core team will continue with Omnia and further build solutions that redefine immersive experiences and transform how users engage with brands”.
Aldo Petruzzelli, CEO and Founder, Omnia, said, “The acquisition of SpotKwik is a strategic step in Omnia’s mission to bridge the gap between traditional web-based experiences and the spatial computing revolution. By integrating SpotKwik’s capabilities, we’re enabling the seamless conversion of Web-based builds into spatial-ready applications, accelerating adoption across industries. This not only enhances content discoverability in AR and XR environments but also ensures that developers can effortlessly deploy their projects into the next era of computing without needing to rebuild from scratch”.
