Maruti Suzuki, JETRO Ink MoU to Boost India-Japan Startup Collaboration

- Maruti Suzuki and JETRO signed an MoU to foster cross-border innovation and strengthen startup ecosystems in India and Japan.
- The collaboration will help Indian startups explore Japan’s market and provide Japanese startups access to India’s innovation landscape through joint events and networking.
- Startups from Maruti Suzuki’s innovation programs and JETRO’s platforms will be eligible to participate in the bilateral initiatives.
Maruti Suzuki India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to foster cross-border innovation and support startups from both India and Japan.
The agreement was exchanged between Tapan Sahoo, Executive Officer of Digital Enterprise at Maruti Suzuki, and Takashi Suzuki, Chief Director General of JETRO India, in the presence of Maruti Suzuki’s Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi.
The partnership aims to promote bilateral startup engagement by providing access to each other’s innovation ecosystems. Indian startups will be offered opportunities to explore Japan’s business landscape, while Japanese startups will be encouraged to engage with the rapidly growing Indian startup environment.
The collaboration will include joint events, networking platforms, and connections with potential business partners. Startups from Maruti Suzuki’s innovation programs Accelerator, Incubation, Mobility Challenge, and Nurture will be eligible to participate. Japanese startups will be selected through JETRO’s initiatives.
“Startups are key drivers of innovation and economic growth”, said Takeuchi. “With this MoU, we aim to empower Indian startups with global opportunities”.
JETRO India’s Takashi Suzuki stated the agreement will deepen business cooperation and enhance economic ties between India and Japan through shared innovation efforts.
