LinkedIn Acquires 'Pulse', A Startup By Indians, For $90 Million
Bangalore: LinkedIn, the largest social networking site for professionals, on Thursday announced its acquisition of online news aggregation startup “Pulse,” for $90 million. Pulse was founded by Akshay Kothari and Ankit Gupta in 2010 when they were students at Stanford University.
With the acquisition, earlier reports about LinkedIn’s big step towards becoming an online content powerhouse has come true, reports AllThings D.
Jeff Weiner, CEO LinkedIn, is using the acquisitions and new products to make LinkedIn help both employees and employers to scout talent and forge professional networks.
On the Pulse blog, Ankit wrote, “When we started Pulse in 2010, as a class project at Stanford University, we never imagined what the future would hold. We were motivated by our own frustrations with mobile news reading: we wanted an effortless experience, with clean design and easy access to all of our favorite sources.”
