Kiko Live, a Quick Commerce App on ONDC, Exceeds 5,000 Daily Orders in Just 1 Month

Kiko Live, a key player in the Quick Commerce sector on the ONDC platform, has reached a significant milestone by exceeding 5,000 daily orders from its consumer app, KikoShop, within just a month of its launch.

The company launched its consumer app in Delhi in January.

The company aims to revolutionize the online grocery shopping experience and plans to expand to 20 more cities over the next six months, with a target of reaching over 25,000 orders per day.

Founded in 2020, Kiko Live focuses on helping small retailers build, manage, and scale their home delivery businesses through innovative SaaS solutions.

The app allows users to paste an entire grocery list directly into the search box, simplifying the shopping process by eliminating the need to search for individual items. Kiko Live has received a patent for this unique multi-search feature.

Additionally, it suggests nearby stores that have the items in stock. A key feature of the app is its seamless user experience, which enhances shopping efficiency. Future updates will enable users to take photos of their grocery lists and directly add items to their carts.

Founded by Alok Chawla, Kiko Live collaborates directly with kirana (local grocery) stores to digitize their operations.

Alok Chawla, Co-Founder of Kiko Live, stated, “With a network of over 1,000 active Quick Commerce retailers powered by Kiko Live in Delhi NCR, we are currently fulfilling more than 5,000 grocery orders every day. We are also in the process of onboarding stores in Bangalore, Mumbai, and Indore for Quick Commerce. As one of the leading enablers of retailer-led Quick Commerce on ONDC, Kiko Live has already fulfilled over 600,000 grocery retail orders. Our goal is to scale rapidly to 10,000+ daily orders within the next two months."

The ONDC ecosystem for Quick Commerce consists of various partners working together: Seller Apps that supply the ecosystem, Buyer Apps that generate demand, and logistics partners that handle quick deliveries. While Kiko Live has been a primary supply partner for grocery stores until now, it has also launched its own Buyer App to drive demand within the retail network. This incremental demand comes as Kiko Live's seller partners continue to receive orders from large Buyer Apps like PayTM, Ola, Mystore, and others, with added demand generated from the Kiko Live Buyer App.

One of the key differentiators of the Kiko Live Buyer App is its commitment to free delivery for buyers, along with no hidden charges or convenience fees. Buyers also benefit from competitive prices that rival those of dark store-led Quick Commerce platforms. Moreover, deliveries from neighborhood stores are quick, matching the efficiency of dark store Quick Commerce deliveries.

The rise of Quick Commerce has led to the closure of over 200,000 kirana stores in recent months. As a result, upgrading to digital selling and Quick Commerce has become essential for retailers rather than a luxury. The total grocery home delivery market in India is approximately $88 billion and is growing at an annual rate of 10%. Out of this, about $4 billion has shifted to dark store-led Quick Commerce.

“Our on-ground operations team ensures that retailers maintain real-time inventory listings, resulting in a fulfillment rate of over 99%. Our WhatsApp customer support is available for buyer concerns, staffed by real agents who resolve exceptions promptly. Since buyers are familiar with the stores they purchase from, we experience less than a 0.01% exception rate for order cancellations, returns, or complaints of any kind. Even these issues are quickly resolved with the assistance of our support team,” added Imran Alam, VP of Sales at Kiko Live.

Over the next two years, the quick commerce market is expected to double to $8 billion, contributing to a total grocery home delivery business that will exceed $100 billion. Within this market, dark store-led Quick Commerce is projected to account for only about $8-10 billion. Meanwhile, kirana stores are poised to thrive in a market that is nine times larger than that of dark stores. As retailers digitize, kirana store-led Quick Commerce is also expected to grow significantly over the next two years. Kiko Live aims to be a catalyst and a leading player in this space.
