KIET Group of Institutions attains autonomous status
For students, autonomy translates to a customized and contemporary curriculum that enhances employability, more opportunities for research and internships, and exposure to diverse and innovative teaching methodologies. The flexible academic structure will increase student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities.
Faculty members will benefit from greater academic freedom to design courses, introduce new programs, and update existing ones based on their expertise and emerging fields. This autonomy fosters enhanced professional development and opens new avenues for industry partnerships and collaborative projects.
As an institution, KIET will experience better governance, streamlined administrative processes, and increased opportunities for national and international collaborations. This will significantly enhance KIET's reputation, attracting higher caliber students and faculty, and allowing the institution to quickly adapt to changing educational and industry landscapes.
KIET is poised to prioritize cutting-edge research in technology, engineering, and applied sciences. The institution will emphasize the implementation of ‘Multiple Entry Multiple Exit’ (MEME) system, as proposed under NEP 2020 and also introduce interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies for developing niche programs tailored to emerging fields. Collaborations with industry leaders for research and development projects will be expanded, providing students and faculty with unparalleled opportunities to contribute to and benefit from these initiatives.
KIET plans to roll out the new autonomous framework in phases, starting with curriculum redesign and administrative restructuring in the first year. Full integration of autonomous operations is anticipated within two to three years, ensuring all stakeholders are well-adjusted to the new system. Additionally, KIET will establish a dedicated Autonomous Governance Committee to oversee the transition and ongoing operations. New academic programs and short-term courses tailored to industry needs will be introduced, along with enhanced student support services, including international exchange opportunities.
KIET aims to strengthen its global footprint through partnerships with international universities and research institutions. The institution is committed to sustainability and social responsibility, integrating these themes into the curriculum and campus activities.
