J&K Startup Policy 2024-27: TISS Experts Mentor Startups at JKEDI
The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) collaborated with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) to host a specialized mentorship program for startups in Jammu and Kashmir. The live session included notable TISS experts, such as Prof. Satyajit Majumdar, Managing Director of TISS Incube Foundation, and Sujay Dixit, CEO of TISS Incube Foundation. The program sought to provide advice and wisdom to local startups, assisting them in the intricacies of setting up and maintaining their businesses.
This mentorship experience provided opportunities for startups in Jammu and Kashmir to benefit from the wide ranging knowledge and experience of these accomplished professionals, who have performed exceptionally well in academia, social entrepreneurship, and startup incubation. Participants learned important guidance on business development, scalability, innovation, and entrepreneurial best practices, preparing them to address challenges and capture opportunities in their businesses.
The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including emerging entrepreneurs, startup founders, and innovators from across the Union Territory, facilitating direct interactions with seasoned professionals in social entrepreneurship and incubation. Prof. Majumdar emphasized the significance of such collaborative efforts in nurturing a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. Concurrently, Sujay Dixit also pointed out that this mentoring session is the continued effort by TISS in enhancing local startups through necessary information, skills, and networking prospects towards their growth.
One to one mentoring was also part of the session where the participants submitted their individual issues and received solution from the specialists. Participants enjoyed the knowledge attained through the session and valued having an opportunity to interact with delegates from one of the nation's premier institutions.
The mentorship programme was arranged by Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Business Modeling (CIIBM), which is JKEDI's vertical under the stewardship of Director Khalid Jahangir. This programme falls under JKEDI's continuous work of improving Jammu and Kashmir's entrepreneurial environment as per the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27.
