Jammu and Kashmir Thriving as Agri Startup Hub: Dr.Jitendra
Highlighting Jammu and Kashmir's rapid ascent as an Agri Startup hub, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh urged local youth to actively participate in the ecosystem to support the national goal of making India the top economy within the next 25 years. Emphasizing the crucial contribution of Himalayan States to India's vision for 2047, Dr. Jitendra Singh underscored the pivotal role of Jammu and Kashmir in pioneering the purple revolution. He expressed that the unexplored or under-explored areas in the region have the potential to significantly contribute to the economy through value addition. Dr. Jitendra Singh made these remarks during his address at a Kisan Sammelan organized by CSIR-IIIM in Hiranagar.
Sharing the success narrative of lavender farming in the Jammu region, the Minister highlighted that over three thousand youth from J&K are actively involved in this initiative, proving to be a source of self-employment with substantial earnings. He emphasized the transformation in the perception of StartUps, stating that Jammu and Kashmir's rapid emergence as an Agri Startup hub is breaking traditional stereotypes, demonstrating that entrepreneurship is not limited to IIT graduates or IT professionals.
Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the national recognition of J&K as the birthplace of the "Purple Revolution," showcased in the Republic Day tableau in the national capital. This agricultural revolution, initiated in Bhaderwah town of district Doda, has expanded to other Himalayan States such as Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. The cultivation of lavender, part of the Aroma Mission by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India, serves as the foundation for this Agri Startup hub.
Highlighting the significance of this endeavor, Dr. Jitendra Singh mentioned that it provides India with an alternative source for economic growth. Over 3000 successful lavender entrepreneurs from Bhaderwah have not only opened a new and lucrative avenue for StartUps through agriculture but have also contributed to the vision of "Viksit Bharat" by 2047, as envisioned by PM Narendra Modi.
