A new executive committee has been elected for the years 2024 to 26 by the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association - IVCA, which plays a significant role in fostering an investor-friendly regulatory environment.
Ashley Menezes of ChrysCapital will act as chairperson, with Srini Sriniwasan of Kotak Substitute as vice chairperson.
Priorities for IVCA include, making pools of capital, streamlining procedures for investors & international funds, enhancing real estate investments and infrastructure, advancing the development of private credit and Class III assets and promoting in on environment related ventures.
In a conversation, Nisha Poddar & Ashley Menezes underlined IVCA's continuous endeavors to further develop India's speculation climate.
One of the vital objectives for the following two years is to improve homegrown capital.
Menezes states, the IVCA has been pretty active for the past many years in promoting the investment environment in India. And broadly, the intent will be to continue to do that. Most of the capital that's coming in through private equity in India, is foreign money. So the biggest challenge that we will have is, how do you encourage more domestic pools of capital to sort of come into play with the overall plan and ideals of Atmanirbhar Bharat”
Regarding to the trends in funding, Ashley Menezes futher stated, "On the venture capital side there has been a little bit of drying up, there is a little bit of funding winter there, only a few companies are able to raise capital. However, on the private equity side, we're actually seeing, a sufficient amount of deal activity there- in terms of a number of deals, as well as in terms of sizes of deals. More importantly, we're seeing a lot more buyout types of transactions. Buyout type of transactions while they are fewer in number, they actually take a lot more in terms of capital. So that is again a very interesting and positive trend”.
