India's 1st geared electric motorcycle from tech-startup Matter unveiled
Ahmedabad based tech-startup Matter has unveiled the country’s first electric motorcycle with gears. The motorcycle has been built from the ground-up, up at the company’s facility in Ahmedabad and is expected to go on sale across major cities. The startup is expected to open bookings for the motorcycle very soon. Here is everything you need to know about the geared electric motorcycle.
The Matter electric motorcycle gets a 4-speed HyperShift manual gearbox intended to deliver an engaging riding experience. The bike gets a 10.5 kWh electric motor deriving power from the 5 kW high-energy density battery pack, called the MatterEnergy 1.0. It gets a patented liquid-based active cooling system called the Integrated Intelligent Thermal Management System.
The entire drivetrain is an integrated unit housing the battery pack, battery management system, drivetrain unit, power conversion modules and other systems. The motorcycle supports both standard and fast charging. The bike’s 5 Amp charger can deliver a full charge in less than 5 hours and also features an overcharge protection feature. The range specifics on a full charge have not been disclosed yet.
In terms of features, the Matter electric motorcycle features a 7-inch touchscreen with Android OS and 4G connectivity. It supports Over-the-Air (OTA) updates and gets navigation and call control. The motorcycle gets three riding modes, passive keyless entry and reverse park assist. All LED lighting with dual-channel ABS are on offer as well.
