Indian startups plan to go global in 2022 says survey

TurningIdeas Ventures conducted a survey that covered around 100+ startups at different stages from ideation to scale-ups and across different domains. Startups are now looking to go global, considering India is now becoming a hub of globally relevant products. In 2022, 42 per cent of startups are looking to expand and tap into global markets according to the survey and over 64 per cent of these startups are in the enterprise SaaS space.

A networking event was held with Business Finland for the Indian startup ecosystem during which the survey results were announced. Business Finland serves as a platform for Indian startups to explore market potential and growth in Finland, to collaborate with Finnish partners and also to support Finnish startups to set up and scale in India. Networking dinner pitches was organised by Business Finland in partnership with TurningIdeas Ventures, for disruptive Indian startups in AR/VR, Health-tech and Clean-tech space. Jukka Holappa, Country Director, Business Finland hosted the event.

After rooting firm roots in India, recent years have witnessed several young startups going global. Indian startups have expanded their business overseas with great poise, said Ashutosh Kumar, Vice President, International Programs at TurningIdeas Ventures. The creation of Powerful international brand recognition happens with global expansion. With the audience becoming familiar with the startup and its products, there is a boost in marketing, sales and potential markets. Finland provides a great opportunity for Startups to leverage Finnish Innovation ecosystem and to tap European markets from Finland, said Puneet Thakur, Head of Invest In and innovation Collaboration.

Ubreathe, Afteshoot, BlueSemi, BioMetaverse and Dentratech are some of the startups who presented at the launch and are planning to establish and scale their business in Finland and the EU. To explore and set up businesses in India TurningIdeas also executies soft-landing programs for the global startup, by helping them do the market assessment. Finnish companies should look beyond their traditional export markets. In the rapidly transforming societies and economies of Asian countries, the B2B and B2C opportunities with the most significant business potential are increasingly discovered. “We are excited about partnering with Business Finland to build a bridge for Indian companies to cross over into Europe and beyond.
