Indian Founded Dobango Raises $600,000 in Seed Funding
Bangalore: Dobango, a brand promoting startup on Pinterest has raised $600,000 in seed funding. The Silicon Valley startup will use the money to expand the service by introducing content management tools and analytics for brands.
Dobango is founded by Devkumar Gandhi who previously founded mobile advertising startup Nexage. The seed funders of Dobango include John Ostrem, who also had invested in Nexage.
Dobango was initially focused on building casino-style online games which also did promotion for retailers. But later Gandhi saw an opportunity when Pinterest started growing at a fast pace. He shifted attention and planned to focus on Pinterest marketing platform for next 1 year.
The Dobango platform helps brands create a pinboard with its images and then the fans are asked to select their favorites. Users also add their own content which helps in promotion. Winner is the one who submits the most engaging content.
Dobango is the only company which builds marketing tools specifically for Pinterest. Gandhi believes that this is because there is no public API provided by Pinterest.
