Indian Angels, a startup pitch and investment show, successfully concluded its inaugural season by investing Rs 6.5 crore in 12 startups. These startups were selected from a pool of entrepreneurs presenting their business concepts to a panel of investors, which included prominent figures such as Ajinkya Firodia (Kinetic Group), Ankit Agrawal (InsuranceDekho), Aparna Thyagarajan (Shobitam), Kunal Kishore (Value 360), Rikant Pittie (EaseMyTrip), and Shreedha Singh (T.A.C – The Ayurveda Co). In the show's format, entrepreneurs deliver quick 60-second elevator pitches about their businesses, followed by a Q&A session with the investors. Additionally, the show offers viewers the unique opportunity to participate and invest in these ventures alongside the six angel investors.
Streaming on Jio Cinema, recent episodes featured startups like Bare Wear, iYatraa Holidays, TriGo Electric, Habbits, Priyam Online, and Estoqi. TriGo Electric successfully secured Rs 40 lakh at a valuation of Rs 7.5 crore for a 5.33% equity stake from Firodia. Meanwhile, Habbits secured Rs 30 lakh for a 15% equity share and the potential for an additional Rs 20 lakh in debt at 10% interest from a consortium. Ajinkya Firodia expressed confidence in TriGo Electric, stating, “We believe in TriGo Electric's potential to transform the electric vehicle sector, and this investment aligns with our commitment to sustainable mobility solutions”.
Regarding Habbits’ fundraising, the consortium supporting the venture highlighted, “We recognize the immense promise in Habbits and its ability to address essential lifestyle needs, motivating our decision to support them through this investment”. This distinctive investment format showcased on Jio Cinema has not only facilitated funding but has also provided a platform for emerging startups to garner exposure and garner support from a diverse array of investors and viewers.
