India to Double Startup Numbers by 2030, Create 50 Million Jobs: Minister

India's startup culture is planning for a huge growth, with the count of startups doubling from 1.2 lakh to 2.4 lakh by 2030 and creating 50 million jobs, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, declared on Sunday.
Addressing the 3rd Annual Technical Festival 'EPITOME 2025' of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara, through video conference, Chaudhary emphasized that these jobs will range from direct white-collar employment, gig economy jobs, and indirect employment within industries.
To facilitate this development, the government has launched a â¹60,000 crore programme to modernize Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), providing youth professionals with industry-specific skills. "In today's knowledge-based world, the appropriate skill set is important not just for individual success but also for national growth", he said.
Chaudhary stressed the need for a skilled workforce and apprenticeship-based education to fill India's skill gap, especially in highly technical fields such as railways, aviation, and logistics. He urged industry, academia, and the government to work together to increase productivity and eliminate inefficiencies.
"Through collaboration, institutions can make sure that young professionals learn skills that match industry needs, enabling them to prepare for new opportunities", he added.
The Minister also pointed to the importance of logistics efficiency in the growth of the economy increasing. "Transportation drives acceleration, and acceleration drives growth. The future is green and digital, with predictive maintenance through AI-driven playing a central role", he said.
He also emphasized that the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is unlocking new opportunities in multimodal logistics, aviation, and maritime space, enhancing global career streams for Indian youth.
During the occasion, Chaudhary complimented Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya on having an industry-recognized curriculum and encouraged the organization to tie up with National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) for further boosting reskilling and upskilling programs.
As skill development and entrepreneurship are increasing focus areas for India, the nation is ready to emerge as one of the most significant innovation and employment centers worldwide in the decade to come.
