Indian Institute of Technology Mandi’s Technology Business Incubator is hosting the fifth edition of Himalayan Startup Trek (HST), its Annual Flagship Event, on December 11 and 12, 2021.

HST 2021 will host the ‘HST Startup Grand Challenge’-startup pitch competition in three areas. Innovators, startups and aspiring entrepreneurs can get an opportunity to win ₹5 lakh cash prizes and ₹50 lakh funding opportunities by participating in this challenge. November 25, 2021, is the last date to apply.

The event aims at providing a platform for young entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas for incubation support and to raise funding from investors. HP Center for Entrepreneurship Development of the HP Industries Department is supporting the event.

Prof. Puran Singh, Faculty-in-charge, IIT Mandi Catalyst, said, “HST has been the gateway to Catalyst's incubation program for startups from across the country. The thematic startup grand challenge this year is the latest feature in HST. We are building capacity and expertise in these three areas and intend to handpick committed startups for support.”

The New Age Alliance-Human Computer Interaction theme of HST Startup Grand Challenge will focus on the usage of computer’s capabilities and computer’s intelligence in decision making, estimation, processing, prediction and communication.

The Foothill Innovators Challenge-Build for the Himalayas theme will revolve around addressing the issues relevant to the population, ecology, local terrain, environment or focus on taking local products and offerings to the world by building storage, supply chains or building capacity at different value chain levels.

The Habitable World Challenge-Environment and Sustainability aims to enable innovators and startups who strive to make the world a more habitable and livable place for all species.

Top startups will also be provided with funding access and incubation support for product development as well as prototyping through various funding schemes.

IIT Mandi Catalyst provides support in infrastructure, mentoring, finances and industry connections through its programs.
