IIT Madras Unveils 'Startups for All' to Democratize Startup Data Access
  • IIT Madras launches a digital platform to make startup data accessible and affordable.
  • The initiative aims to bridge India’s startup information gap through a pay-as-you-go model.
  • Over 2.75 lakh startups and thousands of investors, banks, and incubators are already listed.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched ‘Startups for All’, a new digital platform that provides easy access to verified startup information. The initiative, developed by IIT Madras’ Centre for Research on Start-ups and Risk Financing (CREST) in partnership with YNOS, aims to remove the long-standing information barriers faced by entrepreneurs and investors.

The platform was unveiled by Dr. Palanivel Thiagarajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu, at the TN Global Startup Summit in Chennai.

India, now the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, plays a key role in achieving the country’s Viksit Bharat 2047 and $5 trillion economy goals. However, a major challenge persists, while data is abundant, it remains scattered and hard to use.

‘Startups for All’ addresses this issue by offering India’s most comprehensive and independent startup database. It already includes over 2.75 lakh startups, 15,000 angel investors, 5,500 venture capital firms, 1,400 incubators, 800 banks, and 110 government schemes.

According to Prof. Thillai Rajan A, Head of CREST, the goal is to ensure that every entrepreneur, regardless of background or location, has equal access to credible information. The platform offers free initial access with complimentary credits, followed by a pay-as-you-go micro-payment model, making it affordable for users from smaller towns and institutions.

This initiative empowers students, researchers, and first-time founders to make informed decisions and build sustainable ventures for India’s innovation-led future.
