IIT Madras Launches Tamil Nadu Startup Dashboard to Boost Innovation

IIT Madras, in partnership with Guidance Tamil Nadu, has launched INNOVATION-TN, India’s first state level startup and innovation dashboard. Designed to offer a detailed snapshot of Tamil Nadu’s fast growing startup ecosystem, the platform is expected to help investors, industries, founders, and policymakers make better decisions and unlock new opportunities.
The dashboard showcases active startups, funding trends, sectoral strengths, and regional hubs of innovation. It also enables real time insights for identifying high potential ventures and tracking their growth.
As of August 2025, Tamil Nadu has emerged as a major startup hub with over 19,000 startups, creating 2.2 lakh+ jobs and attracting investments exceeding Rs 1.2 lakh crore. The state also leads with 228 active incubators and startup enablers, the highest for any state in India. Notably, 45 startups in the state have each raised over Rs 200 crore.

Conceptualized by the Centre for Research on Start-ups and Risk Financing (CREST) at IIT Madras and developed with support from IITM incubated startup YNOS Venture Engine, the platform is backed by strong research and robust data. The goal is to position Tamil Nadu as a top destination for innovation and startup investments, both in India and globally.
By making startup data accessible and actionable, INNOVATION-TN is expected to drive better policy, attract capital, and accelerate growth for early stage ventures across the state.
