IAN Invests in Alumni Merchandise Brand 'Alma Mater'


 

Bangalore: Alma Mater, a Bangalore based online brand for official school and college merchandise has raised an undisclosed amount from Indian Angel Network reported Dealcurry. The fund will be used for marketing, infrastructure, hiring the right talent and improving technology to operate on a bigger scale. As a result of the funding process, Ravindra Krishnappa and Joe Fernandes from IAN will join the Alma Mater board.

Alma Mater was founded in 2009 by Varun Agarwal and Rohn Malhotra. Both of them aimed to provide students and alumni of schools and colleges across India with a means of expressing their pride at being products of such reputed institutions. Since the launch, the company has seen a growth of 300% every year, receiving approximately 150 orders per month.

This funding brings IAN’s investment tally to 13 this year. The angel network has invested in several sites that include Prettysecrets.com (online lingerie brand), Poncho (Mexican food specialty QSR), Birds Eye Systems Pvt. Ltd. (Tech Company in Mumbai), StayZilla (Chennai-based hotel booking website).
