Apollyon Dynamics, a defence technology startup founded by BITS Pilani Hyderabad students, has achieved the feat of deploying indigenously developed unmanned aerial vehicles in Indian Army units placed in Jammu, Chandimandir, Panagarh, and Arunachal Pradesh. Founded by Jayant Khatri and Sourya Choudhury, the startup completed the delivery of the units in two months of operational time.

The technology of the startup was recently demonstrated at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus before Kumar Mangalam Birla, Aditya Birla Group Chancellor and chairman. Officials pointed out that the success of these young alumni proves how much of an important role BITS Pilani plays in driving deep-tech innovation with a national footprint.

Apollyon Dynamics specializes in the design and production of bespoke unmanned aerial systems tailored to India's defence and surveillance needs. The systems are developed in-house with a focus on resilience and versatility to different landscapes and operations. The company also provides hands-on training for infantrymen, allowing even those who don't have flying experience to become capable drone pilots quickly. This hands-on exposure ensures personnel are able to effectively use the technology in practical applications.Khatri and Choudhury have designed a series of multi-role air vehicles for long-range reconnaissance, tactical payload release, and high-precision kamikaze missions. The kamikaze platform is designed to fly at speeds greater than 300 km per hour with payloads as heavy as 1 kg delivered with high precision.

The effort made by Apollyon Dynamics emphasizes the need for fostering innovation in educational institutions like BITS Pilani. Encouraging startups for pioneering technology makes a tangible contribution to national security and development.
