Founder of Standard Oil Company, Rockefeller was one of the most significant figures in the oil industry. Along with his brothers and partners he founded the oil company which was later built to become one of the first and largest multinational corporations in the world. He was an efficient entrepreneur who gave a tough competition to others and by the 1890’s he managed and controlled almost 90 percent of the country’s oil refineries. He had many shares as a controlling partner and thus became the world’s richest man. As per the governments order, Standard Oil split into 38 companies, Exxon and Mobil are part of this rule which later merged in 1999.
