Gogoro has strategically entered the Indian market by launching its battery-swapping system for B2B clients in Delhi and Goa. The company plans to expand to Mumbai and Pune by the first half of 2024. Additionally, Gogoro has introduced its first smart scooter manufactured in India, called the CrossOver GX250. In India, Gogoro primarily works with B2B customers and provides access to its swapping network for other electric scooter manufacturers, with Zypp being among its notable clients.
Horace Luke, Gogoro's founder and CEO, stressed the positive impact on urban areas by empowering last-mile delivery riders to embrace intelligent and eco-friendly electric transportation. These riders cover over six times the distance compared to regular consumers. Gogoro, alongside its operations in Taiwan, has commenced manufacturing its electric scooters in India, starting with the tailored CrossOver GX250 model.
The CrossOver GX250 has been specifically designed to cater to Indian riders' needs, featuring expanded seating and storage capacity, along with improved ground clearance. Presently, the CrossOver GX250 is available for purchase, while the other two variations are slated to start shipping in 2024. Gogoro's manufacturing plant for these vehicles is located in Maharashtra, India. The company has secured approval from the Small Industries Development of India (SIDBI) to access electric vehicle financing programs, recognizing its position as a foreign manufacturer of two-wheelers.
