Nihansh Bhat, the lead corporate development of South Korean gaming firm Krafton, has revealed that the company is currently finalizing investments ranging from $35-40 million ( 332 crore) in several Indian startups.

Krafton's investment strategy extends beyond gaming ventures and encompasses media entertainment and content, consumer internet companies, deeptech, and SaaS sectors. While a significant portion of the investment will be allocated to new ventures, a smaller portion will be directed towards existing portfolio companies.

The renowned global game development company, KRAFTON, has recently unveiled a groundbreaking incubator program for game development, enabling developers to embark on their projects right from the conceptualization phase.

Up until now, a total of $160 million has been invested in the Indian startup industry by the company. Furthermore, they have pledged to invest between $150-200 million over the course of the next two to three years. Within their portfolio, the company currently holds 11 companies, which include One Impression, an influencer marketing platform, and Frnd, a startup focused on people discovery.

One Impression has developed a platform to assist in planning for future influencers, while Krafton is supporting the startup in tailoring its platform for gaming influencers. Likewise, Frnd is a dating platform designed for users from smaller towns who enjoy communicating in regional languages through audio.

Krafton has chosen two gaming startups from a pool of 200 applications for its incubator program. Additionally, the company is currently in the process of selecting more startups to join its fold.

Dave Curd, the creative director of PUBG Corporation, will be among the mentors, as stated by Anuj Sahani, the head of the incubator programme.

Two startups have been chosen for recognition. The first one is ReDimension Games, located in Kohima, which has created an action-adventure game.

This game is scheduled to be launched in 2024 and will be available on both Windows and consoles. The second startup is Shura Games, based in Bengaluru, and they have developed a mobile game that combines culinary puzzle challenges.
