Free Gemini Users Can Now Access Gems on Android and iOS

Free users of Gemini can now access Gems on both Android and iOS. It comes with five pre-designed Gems to get you started:

  • Brainstormer: Find inspiration for parties, gifts, businesses, and more easily.
  • Career Guide : Unleash your career potential with a comprehensive plan to develop skills and reach your goals.
  • Coding Partner : Develop your coding skills with feedback on creating projects and learning at the same time.
  • Learning Coach : Obtain assistance in learning and rehearsing new ideas according to your choice.
  • Writing Editor : Refine your writing with concise, constructive criticism, including grammar and structure.

But the real strength of Gemini is being able to tailor your own Gems. By offering instructions that outline tasks to save time on tedious or complicated work, you can design Gems to suit your requirements. You can enter text and set "Purpose and Goals" and "Behaviors and Rules," including response length and tone. You can also upload files for Gems to draw upon and give them a personal name.

Google originally introduced Gems at I/O in May, making them available to Advanced subscribers in August. The update comes as part of other features such as image creation, document upload/analytics, and Deep Research. Free users 18 years and older can use Gems on mobile, and creation will be on gemini.google.com. To control Gems, visit the account menu on mobile or the side panel on the web.
