Former Apple Communications Manager Joins ALLEN as CMO
ALLEN Career Institute, a well-known test preparation startup, has named Apoorv Sharma as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). With a background as a senior marketing and communications manager at Apple, Sharma contributes over 18 years of varied experience in both B2B and B2C sectors across various geographical regions. His expertise in brand development, innovative solutions, and product marketing during his five-year role at Apple was emphasized by the company.
Sharma expressed his excitement upon joining ALLEN, stating, “I eagerly anticipate establishing deeper connections with educators, learners, and parents by employing compelling narratives and innovative marketing approaches”. He underscored the company’s objective, which aims not just to inform but also to motivate and empower student communities for a brighter future. With dual MBA degrees from IMT Ghaziabad and IÉSEG School of Management in France, coupled with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Sharma brings a combination of managerial expertise and technical acumen to his new position.
Earlier this year, ALLEN named Nitin Kukreja as its CEO, signifying the company's shift towards becoming a digital-first edtech enterprise. Kukreja, previously the managing director at Marigold Park Capital Advisors and CEO of Star Sports, joins ALLEN with a wealth of experience in consumer-tech investments and leadership positions. In a strategic maneuver, ALLEN entered the edtech arena through the acquisition of Doubtnut, an AI-based doubts solving platform, reportedly finalizing the deal at approximately $10 million. Additionally, the company received a substantial investment of $600 million from Bodhi Tree Systems last year. Established in 1988 by Rajesh Maheshwari, ALLEN Career Institute remains a prominent test preparation brand, providing support to aspiring engineering and medical students for their college entrance examinations.
