Flipkart appoints Nandita Sinha as the CEO of fashion portal Myntra

Myntra, the Flipkart-owned fashion portal has appointed Nandita Sinha as its new chief executive officer (CEO) to replace its outgoing chief executive Amar Nagaram. In the eCommerce group, This will be the first time that a woman executive will be in this position.

Sinha will join her duty from January 1, 2022. Nagaram will stay with Myntra till the end of December and is leaving Myntra to start his venture. Before moving to Myntra as its CEO in 2019, Nagarm has been with Flipkart for almost seven years.

Since 2013, Sinha has been with Flipkart and most recently she was the VP for media, customer growth and engagement at the company. She has been engaged with Flipkart’s flagship Diwali sale event Big Billion Days.

This comes at a time when online retail has seen a recovery in sales after the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, Flipkart Group was on track to clock annualised gross merchandise value (GMV) of $23 billion. Sinha moves to Myntra at a time when the fashion etailer has been widening its offerings besides experimenting with influencer-led live commerce shopping. It has started testing influencer-led live online shopping on its platform, earlier this month.

A group of influencers and experts in the domain of beauty, fashion and personal care can hold live video sessions one can purchase products directly while the session is underway. In the coming weeks, Myntra is expected to announce its foray into live commerce.
