The Industries Department of the Delhi government has completed the draft of its startup policy with the aim of encouraging, facilitating, and supporting the emergence of at least 15,000 startups by 2030. The department has recently submitted an action taken report regarding the same and is also finalizing a proposal for the Dilli Bazar portal. Additionally, it plans to develop Shahdara under the 'One District One Product - Districts as Export Hubs' scheme.
A senior Delhi government official said the startup policy would help such companies get collateral-free loans and empanelled experts, including chartered accountants, for guidance free of cost. "We will also support college students who are working on business ideas", he said, adding that a startup portal will be launched as soon as the policy is notified. Another official said the Delhi government is in the final stages of launching a digital platform to reach out to customers across the country and worldwide with the launch of the Dilli Bazaar portal. The first of its kind in India, the portal will feature 10,000 vendors in the initial phase.
The Delhi government said it aims to bring more than one lakh shops in the city to the Dilli Bazaar portal within six months of its launch, offering them a 24x7 digital storefront. It plans to develop a unique virtual experience that would allow users to explore Delhi's iconic and local markets. "The main idea is to help both shoppers and startups," the official said. The government is also planning to develop the Shahdara district, which is famous for its grain market, under the 'District as Export Hub Scheme'. "The idea is to select, brand, and promote one product from each district," said a senior official. He added under the initiative, products with export potential would be identified to help increase manufacturing and exports from urban areas. This would also generate economic activity in sectors to which the product is linked.
