  • Initiative supports Startup India vision to make India the 2nd largest startup hub by 2047 with 1,000 unicorns, bridging ideas from chai to charts.

In an effort to enable India's Next-Gen entrepreneurs, Chandigarh University (CU) today introduced 'Campus Tank', a startup initiative for young entrepreneurs in partnership with Apna & Venture Catalysts.

The Campus Tank portal was inaugurated in the presence of Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chandigarh University Chancellor, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Apna Chief Operating Officer, Karna Choksi, Apna vice president Dr Preet Deep Singh, Venture Catalysts' managing partner and founding member Rishabh Golchha.

Expanding on Campus Tank, Satnam Singh Sandhu stated, "By enabling the growth of startups, the initiative promotes innovation and design by enabling the next generation of entrepreneurs in accordance with Startup India initiative taken by the PM Narendra Modi in 2016".

He stated, "This collaborative effort between Chandigarh University, Apna and Venture Catalysts for Campus Tank will further reinforce the startup ecosystem, fuel economic growth and empower the next generation of creators. I am confident Campus Tank will become a catalytic agent for fostering the entrepreneurial drive among young entrepreneurs in the nation and assist in realizing the Union Government's ambitious goal of making the country 2nd largest start-up environment of the world by overtaking China and building 1,000 Unicorns by 2047".

Apna's vice president Dr. Preet Deep Singh stated, "Building livelihoods has been the central theme of Apna's mission always. We are not merely a jobs platform, we are an opportunities platform. With Campus Tank, we are opening a robust platform for India's most talented and youngest entrepreneurs. This is where college room ideas, canteen ideas and jam session ideas get an opportunity to be heard, seen and funded".

"Every startup generates direct employment for 11 individuals on average and 4 times as much indirectly. Promoting these businesses is as much about innovation as it is about nation-building. We think India grows as Indians grow. Our role is to hand-hold such young entrepreneurs and assist them in taking their ideas from chai to charts. Through Campus Tank, we want to unleash a generation of problem-solvers, dreamers and doers", he added.

Rishabh Golchha opined, "In Venture Catalysts' view, India's future breakout founders are already working out of hostels, co-working spaces, cafés, and garages. Campus Tank is an attempt to find and support them early on. This platform is targeted at young founders under the age of 30 who are creating real solutions with audacious ideas. With up to $1 million committed investment pool available, we are infusing capital, mentorship and access to enable them to scale”.
