Blinkit & Zepto stuns with amazing Rakhi gifts, Prizes & Luxurious Overseas stays
This Raksha Bandhan is a great time for overseas families and siblings to get last-minute gifts for their Indian consumers. Offering curated rakhi gifts and chances to win cars, iPhones, televisions (TVs), and luxurious overseas stays, quick-commerce companies like Zepto and Blinkit are expanding.
For the occasion, Blinkit, which is owned by Zomato, has expanded its international services to allow users from the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Japan to send rakhis and gifts to their Indian siblings. In addition, the company is providing free domestic delivery on all rakhi purchases.
Expressing to this, Albinder Dhindsa, founder and chief executive officer of Blinkit says, "We have activated international orders on Blinkit until August 19. People living abroad can now place orders to send rakhis and gifts to their siblings in India, and we’ll deliver within 10 minutes".
Dhindsa claims that, thanks to last-minute shopping, the business has already surpassed last year’s rakhi sales by Saturday afternoon. He added that the United States has received more than 90% of the international orders so far, with Japan and Australia sharing the remainder roughly equally. In a similar area, Zepto has launched its most recent campaign, Rakhi Aapki, Lifafa Humara, with the intention of fulfilling more than 3.5 million orders within three days. Customers will receive a free Shagun ka Lifafa from the business on August 17 to 19.
According to the company, the brother and sister will each receive a special Raksha Bandhan envelope that contains a scratch card with the opportunity to win prizes totaling 5 crore.
These prizes include cars, a luxurious trip to Dubai, iPhones, televisions, speakers, washing machines, and other gifts
The company is said to be planning to open nearly 100 dark stores in major cities ahead of its flagship sale event, Big Billion Days 2024, which takes place in October. By the end of 2026, Blinkit hopes to have 2,000 dark stores, up from the current 639. In the first quarter of 2024–25 alone, the company opened 113 dark stores, and similar numbers are expected to open in the July–September quarter, just in time for the festival season.
In June, Zepto said that it would have 700 dark stores by March 2025, up from 350 at the moment. To accomplish this, it will need to add approximately 80 stores each quarter.
Chandan Mendiratta, chief brand officer of Zepto says, “Shagun ka Lifafa holds cultural significance during Raksha Bandhan, and we decided to elevate the sibling rivalry to a whole new level”.
Further he added, “We’re thrilled to partner Dabur and other collaborators, including EaseMyTrip, Ariel, and Tide, to offer exclusive prizes and experiences, making this festival even more special”.
