Binny Bansal, the former Co-Founder of Flipkart, is now entering the AI industry with a new startup that will cater to corporate clients around the world. The startup will provide AI expertise, products, and services to global corporations, following a model similar to that of IT giants like TCS and Infosys. The team led by Bansal has already hired 15 experts, primarily AI scientists, and has plans to expand its workforce for upcoming product launches.
Sachin Bansal, a 40-year-old billionaire who Co-Founded the e-commerce giant Flipkart and sold his stake to Walmart Inc for a significant profit, is now looking to tap into India's vast English-speaking youth population to train AI professionals and offer innovative services. His focus is mainly on talent development and service offerings in smaller Indian cities, with initial targets being the e-commerce and legal sectors and future expansions planned in analytics, data science, and financial services. Although the startup has not yet revealed specific product details, the official product launch is scheduled for the second half of 2024.
The AI startup, which will be headquartered in Singapore, is being founded by Binny Bansal, who has been residing in the city post-Flipkart. The project is currently in stealth mode for product development in Singapore, with plans for expansion into the US market. Binny Bansal and Sanchin Bansal, both alumni of IIT-Delhi, co-founded Flipkart, which Walmart later acquired for $16 billion in 2018. Despite stepping down as CEO of Flipkart, Binny Bansal still retains his shares in PhonePe, Flipkart’s digital payment service, and maintains his presence on the Flipkart board. He has also been actively investing in technology startups.
