Peter Thiel, Stanford University alumni, came up with the idea of creating anti-terrorism software and partnered with CEO Alex Karp in 2008 to hatch Palantir. The app focuses on aiding the public and private firms to monitor disparate data and its importance. The app was much of use to intelligence agencies like FBI and CIA in the tracking process of Osama Bin Laden.
Prime investors: Glynn Capital Management, Founders Fund, Jeremy Stoppelman and Tiger Global Management.
