AWS Summit Bengaluru: 2025
AWS hosted its AWS Summit 2025 in Bengaluru on May 7-8, drawing more than 15,000 participants, including partners and developers, to explore developments in India's AI infrastructure. President of India & South Asia Sandeep Dutta pointed to India's digital trajectory, with internet penetration having increased from 0.5% to more than 900 million users in 25 years. He stressed the role of partnerships and customer trust as critical in promoting digital transformation, referencing such examples as Razorpay, which had processed.
Dutta made the announcements of AWS's coming to India, including an investment of $16.4 billion by 2030 and the launch of the AWS Marketplace with India-centric features in the near future. He emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture and renewable energy and highlighted the position of Amazon as a top corporate purchaser of renewable energy.
The summit included sessions on generative AI, with use cases such as DigiYatra and Razorpay's AI assistant, Atlas. Dr. Pratyush Kumar from Sarvam AI spoke about "sovereign AI," with emphasis placed on developing AI specific to Indian languages and applications.
AWS highlighted its underlying innovation building blocks such as advanced compute and collaboration with NVIDIA for AI workloads. The event highlighted the collaborative action to achieve India's digital transformation, resonating with the views of Ratan Tata: "If you want to walk fast, walk alone. But if you want to walk far, walk together." This positions AWS to partner with customers and developers to build the future of India's digital economy.
